We are Enhancing Our Campus...

On April 28, members of West Virginia Project CommuniTree (WVPCT) came to MES to make presentations to all the students about the new trees that were planted on our school property.  Each grade was designated the care of a tree so it will live and grow, and provide future shade to our school playground.  Mr. Bob Clark spoke to each class and stressed the importance of caring for their trees.  Mr. Armentrout read an Arbor Day proclamation, and several of the children spoke about the importance of volunteering, tree plantings, and enhancing the campus.  WQWV, our local radio station, was here to broadcast all the events that were happening that day.  The following students spoke on the radio as a representative of their grade, Orlando Rico (Pre-K), Calli Fitzwater (K), Sean Fahey (1st), and Hayden Baldwin (2nd). MES would like to thank everyone involved in this project for beautifying our playground and front campus.   Special thanks go out to Jennifer Hammer, WVDOF, Carla and Josh Hardy, WVCA, Anthony Rao and Ralph Keller, Hardy County Parks Commission, and Bob Clark.  Also, first grade teacher, Marie Rao, is given a big "thank you" for assisting with the development of lesson plans for WVPCT.
